Jeanette Carolyn Elliott Branson Obituary - 2020 (2024)

Mrs. Jeanette Elliott Branson, 89, of 18 Pershing Street, Thomasville, passed away at Abbott’s Creek Center, Lexington, on August 27, 2020. She was born on October 10, 1930, in Moore County, NC, to Claude Elliott and Ethel Rollins Elliott. She graduated from Thomasville High School in 1950 and then traveled to New York City to study at The Barbizon Modeling School. After completing the course, she modeled for clients at various major stores. She returned to Thomasville and in 1953 married Charles Edwin (Eddie) Branson, who survives of the home. She enjoyed being a devoted wife and mother of four children, while also serving as assistant librarian at Fair Grove Elementary for many, many years. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

“Nannie” loved bright red nail polish, baking birthday pound cakes, getting excited at ballgames or stage productions that involved one of HER young’uns, Jesse Hill Bus Tours, watching fireworks at family Fourth of July parties at the lake, cooking Christmas breakfast, playing bridge, wearing beautiful pins, Terry House with Jane, the beach, babies of any age.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Charles E. (Herb) Branson, II; her grandson, Daniel Elliott Branson; and her brother, James Reece Elliott. Besides Eddie, her husband of 67 years, Jeanette is survived by daughters, Carolyn Jones and husband, Gary; Katie Ballard and husband, Tommy; son, Elliott Branson and wife Patti; daughter in law, Karen Branson, wife of Herb; grandchildren, Rebecca Jones, Benjamin (Ben) Jones; Clay Ballard and wife, Savannah; Sarah Ballard Gaither and husband, Patrick; Nathan Branson, Kyle Branson, Ian Kearney, Hilary Branson, Addison Branson, and Charles E. (Charlie) Branson, III. She has three great grandchildren, Kallie Elizabeth Branson, Patrick Daniel Gaither, and Anna Elizabeth Gaither. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Elliott and wife, Judy, as well as her best friend, Jane Westmoreland.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the JC Green & Sons Chapel officiated by Rev. Danny Leonard with internment at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Jeanette Branson will lie in state at the funeral home one hour before the service. The family will greet friends and family at the cemetery immediately following the service at the cemetery. The family asks all those who attend the service to wear a mask per state guidelines to protect everyone from the Covid 19 virus.
